The Circus Maximus was back in the time a ring-shaped arena where horse races, chariot races, combats and gymnastic games took place.

Located in the heart of Trastevere, in front of Ponte Sisto, between Lungotevere della Farnesina and Lungotevere Raffaello Sanzio, this charming little square is dedicated to the great Roman satirical poet Carlo Alberto Salustri, better known as Trilussa.

The Basilica was probably the first official place of Christian worship in Rome. According to legend, it was commissioned by Pope Calixtus I in the 3rd century and was finished by St. Julius I in 340.

Not far from St. Peter's Basilica, at the end of Ponte Sant'Angelo, on the right bank of the Tiber rises imposing Castel Sant'Angelo.

Trevi fountain

It is the largest of Rome's famous fountains. Built of travertine and Carrara marble, it was designed by Nicola Salvi and Giuseppe Pannini in 1732. It is fed by an aqueduct that has been active for more than 2,000 years and is almost 20 km long.

Villa Borghese Park occupies a vast area in the heart of the city. The villa encloses within it buildings, sculptures, monuments and fountains, the work of illustrious artists of Baroque, neoclassical and eclectic art, surrounded by centuries-old trees, ponds, Italian-style gardens and large open spaces, created with great care.

The construction of the Fontanone dell'Acqua Paola (Fontanone del Gianicolo) dates back to the period between 1610 and 1614 thanks to the architects Giovanni Fontana (1540-1614), Flaminio Ponzio (1560-1613) and the sculptor Ippolito Buzio (1562-1634) as the terminal exhibition of the Trajan-Paul Aqueduct, at the behest of Pope Paul V Borghese...
